Welcome to the Slightly Feral Blog
If you’ve ever felt like you were one meeting away from running off into the woods with nothing but a blanket and a box of wine (or bottle of tequila), you’re in the right place.
This is Slightly Feral, real talk, soft landings, and tools you can actually use. I write about parenting, relationships, blended family chaos, attachment theory, and healing… all without the guilt trips, perfect mom filters, or guru nonsense.
I’m Erika Hardison, mom of five, recovering over-functioner, and a woman who has Googled “how to stop yelling” at 1 a.m. more than once. My motherhood journey hasn’t been neat or linear. Between international adoption, miscarriages, blending families, and the occasional identity crisis, I’ve learned that raising kids is part sacred work, part improv comedy, and part trying not to lose your mind before bedtime.
And that’s what you’ll find here, the messy middle. The moments that don’t make it to curated Instagram feeds but are the heartbeat of real life.
What You’ll Find Here
Parenting that actually works in the chaos: co-regulation, nervous system cues, and raising kids who feel safe being themselves.
Relationship truths: the unfiltered side of marriage, step-parenting, and staying connected in a world that pulls us apart.
Healing and self-discovery: the stuff that makes you feel whole again, without turning into someone you don’t recognize.
Humor and honesty: because sometimes the only thing between you and a meltdown is a laugh you didn’t see coming.
Why It Matters
I believe that you can be the calm, confident leader in your home without losing your edge. That parenting with connection and boundaries isn’t just possible, it’s the foundation of raising kids who don’t have to recover from their childhoods.
Here, you’ll get stories that make you feel less alone, practical tools you can use today, and the occasional reminder that if you’re slightly feral… you’re probably doing better than you think.
Your Invitation
Grab your coffee, wine, or whatever keeps you grounded. Read a post or two. Share the ones that make you laugh or cry (bonus points if they do both). And if you want to stick around for the good stuff, join my email list, it’s where I share the behind-the-scenes, the raw truths, and the tools I don’t put anywhere else.
Welcome. You’re safe here. You belong here. And if you’re just a little bit feral? Even better. =)
